About me & about my photography
My name is Malin and I am born, on April 9th 1992, and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. I got my first camera on my 10th birthday. It was a blue one, analogue of course witch followed me. And I still got paper pictures that I took with this camera from downhill skiing slopes, water skiing in summer or pictures of flowers and animals.
I got my first system camera when I was 17 and before that I had always borrowed a camera to take better pictures than with the first digital compact ones that my mother had. It was a Nikon D40 and the pictures are quite good in compare to the camera and my knowledge about photography.
I took a Photography course and learned more about analogue photography, during this time a used my father’s old analogue system camera from the seventies or eighties. Black and white is was. But the course was also about digital photography, composition, rules, and technics and so on. Really good things to know and would probably make a person a better photographer if the teacher is good. Mine was not good. Or maybe he was, but really did not like any of my pictures even though a lot of people told me they where great. After this a think it is a year where I take less photographs. Maybe this is a time to find my own style or something.
With a new camera in my hands, after my graduating from the Swedish Gymnasium it I starting to increase again. It is fun. I like it again. It is summer. It is nice.
I start a new part of my life. University studies on the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). My program is a 5 years program called energy and environment (engineering). Probably it can be called just energy and environmental engineering. Hard studies and a little less photography. But still photographing a lot.
After one and a half years on the program I decided to apply for exchange studies in Singapore and almost a year later I am where I am right now. Studying Environmental and Civil engineering in The Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. With my new adventure camera in my hands. A small white Nikon 1. Shock proof and water proof, which is super in a country like this and within the travelling to other parts of the southern Asia. Snorkelling in Thailand, heavy rains in Singapore, sweating on bicycle tours on Bali and so on.
I love photographing and this webpage will show my pictures in the Gallery or on the Home-page. As you can see almost the same things I was taking photographs on when I was ten. Pretty chocking? I just guess that is me!
